Un-earth the story of Welsh Slate and our works’ role in the manufacturing of the slate products that this part of North Wales is rightly famous for. Inigo Jones Slate Works has been established since 1861 and offers self-guided tours and a unique opportunity to create your own slate memento.

Just off the A487, between the historic and harbour towns of Caernarfon and Porthmadog, we’re easily accessible and dog friendly, with free parking, a gift shop and café to complement our main attractions.

We offer a self-guided tour, an activity that can be experienced at your own pace. Children enjoy a quiz as you roam the works, exploring original buildings and viewing the authentic working machinery that produces our Welsh Slate crafts for the shop. If you’re inspired by our craftsmen, we invite you to create your own slate memento to take home from Snowdonia. Visit our website to book a place and find out more about the onsite café, farm shop and butchery.

Open 7 days, Easter to the end of September – 9am to 5pm.
October to Easter – Monday to Saturday 9am – 5pm. (Closed Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day).
We extend a warm welcome to all and are well equipped for families and groups. Our whole site is also dog friendly, so no need to leave them behind.
