Dip your feet in the water this Summer…

Snowdonia has so much more to offer than just towering mountains. Our members such as Plas Menai, RibRide, Adventure Parc Snowdonia, Anglesey Sea Zoo, Glasfryn Parc, all take you to the water when you visit Snowdonia. However, if you don’t fancy your chances of getting a bit wet, you can simply get a taste of the sea at Dylan’s, Enoch’s or Black Boy Inn, where they serve locally sourced seafood.

Learn to Sail in North Wales

For adventure seekers, Plas Menai is the National Outdoor Centre for Wales, offering tonnes of water-based activities from its brilliant location on the banks of the Menai Strait. You can try dinghy sailing, windsurfing, powerboating, canoe and kayaking, yacht sailing, climbing and mountain biking.

Adventure Tour Boat Trips in North Wales

Taking it up an octave further still is the awesome RibRide! Based in Porth Daniel, Menai Bridge, RibRide specialises in water-based adventure days in North Wales, including the famous adventure RIBs and Velocity! No ordinary boat, Velocity is an adrenaline-fuelled fast-moving RIB going from zero to the ‘speed of scream’ (keep a close eye on RibRides website to see when Velocity will reopen for bookings in 2021). If high-speed boat trips aren’t your thing, RibRide also offers equally exciting Foilrides – the eFoil is an electric surfboard that flies above a hydrofoil wing. The eFoil is near silent and is charged with power from renewable sources – a great way to interact with our environment without imposing on it.

Guaranteed Surfing in North Wales

For ‘wanna be’ (and pro!) surfers, head to Adventure Parc Snowdonia, a world-first inland surf lagoon and the only guaranteed surf break in the UK. It’s set against a backdrop of the forests and mountains of Snowdonia, and the awesome technology delivers a variety of wave profiles, so absolute beginners can surf safely alongside the pros. The expert surf tuition available, and reliable waves make this the ideal, family-friendly training arena.

Visit the only Aquapark in North Wales

Further inland, Glasfryn Parc is home to a range of brilliant water activities from wakeboarding through to stand up paddleboarding.  Hop on The Blob – jump off the four-metre high tower sending your partner catapulting into the air; or, take part in the ‘It’s a Knockout’ obstacle course with monkey bars, spinning balls and a rope bridge, as well as a climbing wall – all balanced above the lake; or, try your luck at the inflatable aquapark – can you get across this obstacle course without falling in? Climb, jump, run, balance – then slide into the lake!

Looking for an Aquarium in North Wales?

A more sedate experience appealing to all ages is the beautiful Anglesey Sea Zoo. A unique aquarium with over 40 tanks displaying the best of British marine wildlife, discover fascinating creatures from around the coasts of the UK, such as octopus, lobsters, seahorses, conger eels and jellyfish!

Back on dry land but with water driven sensibilities are the fantastic array of seafood restaurants and cafes scattered across the region….

Seafood Restaurants in North Wales

Launched in 2012, North Wales is now home to three Dylan’s restaurants. Celebrating the local produce, character and natural beauty of North Wales, Dylan’s specialises in seafood and has become known as a real foodie destination for seafood lovers.

Awarding winning Enoch’s has also established itself as a landmark in North Wales. With a huge nod to tradition and heritage, Enoch’s has embraced a fresh approach to all that is fish and chips. Freshly cooked, ethically sourced fish in an original recipe batter and home cut chips, what could be better!

Another place you’ll find seafood on the menu is the Black Boy Inn. Since the early 16th century, The Black Boy Inn hotel in Caernarfon has been welcoming weary travellers and visitors to Caernarfon and the region of Snowdonia. This restaurant with rooms serves up wonderful local cuisine from sea and land.

Not forgetting our amazing coastline in which to meander and explore, dipping your toes in the waters and rivers, wild swimming in stunning lakes and hidden waterfalls. North Wales really is home to an amazing array of water-based experiences. Start planning your stay here.
